Hingham originally included Cohasset before it split off as its own town in 1770 — which makes Cohasset one of the closest communities to our roots, quite literally. Today it’s known for granite coastline, a working harbor, and some of the South Shore’s most sought-after waterfront real estate, from historic Village homes to the scenic estates along Jerusalem Road.
Waterfront property here faces a specific challenge. Salt air, coastal storms, and constant moisture exposure wear down siding, paint, and exterior wood far faster than they would on an inland property. We build and finish every Cohasset project with that exposure in mind from the start.
Every service below is available across our full service area — same crew, same standards, regardless of which town you’re in.
We renovate kitchens across Cohasset's full range of housing — historic Village homes with original layouts to update thoughtfully, and newer waterfront construction where the kitchen often anchors an open living space with a water view. Professional design comes included with every renovation.
We handle full bathroom renovations for both historic homes near the town center and newer construction along the coast, managing plumbing, tile, and fixtures as one coordinated project rather than splitting the work across separate trades.
We design additions to work with Cohasset's mix of historic Village architecture and newer waterfront construction, handling permitting, structural work, and finishing as one project regardless of which architectural style we're matching.
We build decks here to handle salt air, wind exposure, and often a harbor or ocean view worth designing around. Composite decking frequently makes more sense on waterfront properties than wood, since it resists the moisture and salt exposure that accelerates wood rot close to the coast.
Coastal weathering accelerates siding deterioration, so we lean toward fiber cement and other moisture-resistant materials for direct waterfront exposure rather than standard vinyl. We inspect what's happening behind the siding too, since salt-laden moisture finds its way past even small gaps and compromises sheathing before the surface damage becomes obvious.
Decks near the water wear out faster than their inland counterparts, so we inspect the whole structure — framing, posts, footings — rather than assuming a standard inland timeline applies. Salt-laden air corrodes fasteners faster too, which we check for specifically during any coastal deck repair.
We select roofing materials for wind resistance as much as weatherproofing, since coastal storms bring higher wind loads than an inland property typically faces. Every roof replacement carries our 12-year warranty on workmanship and materials, regardless of how close to the water the home sits.
We install coastal-rated windows and doors built for better wind and moisture resistance than standard residential units, which matters directly for homes facing the ocean or Cohasset Harbor.
Our US Pro Method refinishes cabinets off-site and reinstalls them in under 10 days — a fast way to update a kitchen's look between larger renovation projects.
We coat garage and basement floors with durable epoxy systems, useful for Cohasset's coastal humidity, which affects below-grade and ground-level concrete more than it does further inland.
We choose marine-grade paint systems specifically for salt air and coastal UV exposure, since standard exterior paint breaks down faster this close to the water. Full surface prep — washing, scraping, priming — matters even more here, because a shortcut in prep work shows up as premature peeling within a year or two on a coastal property. We coordinate exterior work around tide and weather windows when a home sits directly on the water.
We paint interiors with full surface prep and a complimentary color consultation, addressing the humidity-related paint issues that show up more often in coastal homes than inland ones.
We assess the property, factoring in coastal exposure where it applies.
We recommend materials rated for salt air and storm conditions.
We handle applications with Cohasset’s building department.
Our crew completes the work to code, with regular updates throughout.

Yes — salt air and direct ocean exposure speed up wear significantly compared to inland properties. Homes closer to the water often need repainting or maintenance a few years sooner than a typical South Shore home further from the coast.
We generally recommend fiber cement siding and marine-grade exterior paints over standard materials for direct coastal exposure, and we’ll suggest specific products based on your property’s proximity to the water.
Yes — we work across Cohasset’s full range of housing, from historic homes near the town center to newer construction along the waterfront.
Waterfront and coastal properties can involve additional review depending on proximity to the water and any conservation area overlap. We’ll flag this during your consultation if it applies to your property.
es — we serve all of Cohasset, including its waterfront neighborhoods.
Posted on Google Karl Desmond The team showed up right on time to do our roof. They worked efficiently and completed the job in 1 day. Very impressed with the clean up as well, would definitely recommendPosted on Google Kristin Braithwaite JR and his team installed a custom kitchen island and coffee stand/cabinet for me. JR did a great job of helping me to maximize my space (which is smaller than ideal for what I was seeking). He was patient with my lack of knowledge around the work itself and was able to transform my very layman's vision into something real. He and his team were polite, professional, respectful, and incredibly quick to complete the job. I absolutely love my island and coffee corner and would recommend US Propaint & Renovation without hesitation!Posted on Google John McCarthy JR and his team came in to remove an existing rear deck and replace it with an expanded composite deck. My wife and I are very happy with the project! It looks great and is very solid construction. All of his team were careful and professional and did a great job removing the old deck, recasting new foundation piers and installing the new deck, trim and railings. JR was very thoughtful during our initial discussions and came up with some very creative ideas to resolve some issues. The work was completed in a timely manner. Once they started they did not stop, except for inclement weather. They did an outstanding job of final clean-up and removed debris from the work area nearly every day. When they left they replaced all the furniture exactly as it was when they started. We look forward to working with JR and his team again.Posted on Google Janet Pray JR and his team were professional , knowledgeable, and a pleasure to work with on my project. It took me a year to look for a place to have my stairs built, and it was worth the wait. I would recommend them highly.Posted on Google Tom McCone JR was extremely courteous and professional to work with. His crew arrived early each day and worked full days sanding, doing carpentry work, and exterior painting of our home. The crew was polite and always considerate of how they left the property each day. We will certainly use them again for other projects. We could not recommend them more highly. The house looks great; thanks JR and crew! As of November, 2022 US Pro Paint and Renovation has done incredible work on our home again renovating our kitchen and doing a complete redo of our bathroom. We were just as happy with this project as we were with their work on previous projects. We benefited from quality work, skilled workers, and tremendous oversight by JR. Our home was respected by everyone who worked on this project. We are again very pleased with their work.Posted on Google Kevin Caravella We hired JR and US Propaint for bathroom remodel based on several neighbors positive experience with exterior house painting. We were not sure how they were on renovations since the recommendations were based on their painting results. We were not disappointed, JR was extremely responsive to us and was a pleasure to work with. JR provided some great advice on some of our renovation challenges. Once we completed our guest bathroom in April we immediately got on his schedule for our master bathroom which was just finished this week. So two major "to the studs" projects in this year and we are extremely pleased with results. Much more than a painting contractor!Posted on Google Nancy Kleber JR and his crew were very responsive, professional and hardworking. They did a great job prepping before painting, carpentry repairs and painting the exterior of my home. His price was very fair. I would definitely call him for other work in the future and recommend him to others.Posted on Google Craig M JR and his crew did a wonderful job painting the exterior of our house. There was quite a bit of carpentry needed to replace rotten shingles and corner boards, and they took no shortcuts. The crew was extremely hard working, professional, and had excellent attention to detail. JR also addressed any questions I had immediately. I strongly recommend!Posted on Google Ross Nanopoulos We hired Jr and crew to repaint the exterior of our house and garage, fix and paint our rotted front steps, and paint our back deck. Crew was very professional and everything came out great. Definitely would recommend and use again!
