Arlington is a dense, walkable town just northwest of Cambridge, with housing largely dating from the late 1800s through the early 20th century — a legacy of its streetcar-suburb history. Homes here tend to sit close together on modest lots, which shapes how additions, decks, and exterior work need to be planned compared to towns with more open land.
We bring the same licensed, lead-safe certified crew to Arlington that we use throughout our full service area, with the added experience of knowing how to make the most of the town’s tighter lots.
Every service below is available across our full service area — same crew, same standards, regardless of which town you’re in.
Arlington's kitchens tend to run smaller than what you'd find in a newer suburban build, and we design around that footprint rather than trying to force an open-concept layout that doesn't fit the house. Professional design comes included with every renovation, coordinating cabinetry, countertops, and appliance placement to make the most of a compact space.
We handle full bathroom rebuilds and tub-to-shower conversions, managing plumbing, tile, and fixtures as one coordinated project — important in Arlington's older housing stock where original plumbing sometimes needs updating as part of the renovation.
We design additions and finish basements to work within Arlington's tighter lot sizes, matching existing architecture rather than crowding the yard. On streets where homes sit close together, we plan setbacks and sightlines carefully before construction begins.
We design and build ADUs, including garage conversions, where lot size limits new stand-alone construction — a common situation in Arlington's denser neighborhoods where building outward simply isn't an option.
We refinish tubs and tile at a fraction of full remodel cost, a good fit for Arlington's older bathrooms where the original fixtures remain structurally sound.
We design decks that make the most of smaller yard spaces, common throughout Arlington's denser neighborhoods — a well-planned deck here needs to work harder for the square footage it has.
We repair and replace siding matched to Arlington's early 20th-century housing character, preserving the details that give these streetcar-suburb homes their distinct look.
We install efficient replacement windows for older, less-insulated homes, sizing installations to match existing openings rather than forcing a standard modern size into a period frame.
Our US Pro Method delivers a factory-finish cabinet transformation in under 10 days, well-suited to Arlington's smaller kitchens where a full renovation isn't necessary to get a dramatically different look.
We follow our full 13-step roofing process on every home and back the work with a 12-year warranty on workmanship and materials, regardless of how tight the lot or how old the house.
We apply full surface prep and premium paint, following lead-safe practices common for Arlington's older housing given how much of the town's stock predates 1978.
We paint interiors with full prep and include a complimentary color consultation with every project, taking extra care in Arlington's older homes where original trim and plaster need gentler handling.
We coat garage and basement floors with durable epoxy systems built for daily use, practical for Arlington's often smaller garages and basements that see heavy everyday use.
We provide 24/7 emergency response for water, mold, and ice dam damage restoration, addressing the moisture concerns that come with Arlington's older housing stock.
We assess your property and provide a clear, written estimate.
We finalize layout, materials, and permitting needs for your project.
We handle applications with Arlington’s building department.
Our crew completes the work to code, with regular updates throughout.
Typically $12,000 to $90,000, depending on the size of the renovation and materials selected.
Most projects take 3 to 8 weeks, though larger renovations may take longer depending on structural changes.
Kitchen remodeling, bathroom renovations, and basement finishing tend to provide the strongest return.
Yes — many projects require permits, and we manage this process as part of your renovation.
Look for a licensed contractor with strong local reviews, clear estimates, and proven experience with comparable homes.
Yes — we regularly plan additions, decks, and exterior work around the tighter clearances common in Arlington’s older neighborhoods.
Posted on Google Karl Desmond The team showed up right on time to do our roof. They worked efficiently and completed the job in 1 day. Very impressed with the clean up as well, would definitely recommendPosted on Google Kristin Braithwaite JR and his team installed a custom kitchen island and coffee stand/cabinet for me. JR did a great job of helping me to maximize my space (which is smaller than ideal for what I was seeking). He was patient with my lack of knowledge around the work itself and was able to transform my very layman's vision into something real. He and his team were polite, professional, respectful, and incredibly quick to complete the job. I absolutely love my island and coffee corner and would recommend US Propaint & Renovation without hesitation!Posted on Google John McCarthy JR and his team came in to remove an existing rear deck and replace it with an expanded composite deck. My wife and I are very happy with the project! It looks great and is very solid construction. All of his team were careful and professional and did a great job removing the old deck, recasting new foundation piers and installing the new deck, trim and railings. JR was very thoughtful during our initial discussions and came up with some very creative ideas to resolve some issues. The work was completed in a timely manner. Once they started they did not stop, except for inclement weather. They did an outstanding job of final clean-up and removed debris from the work area nearly every day. When they left they replaced all the furniture exactly as it was when they started. We look forward to working with JR and his team again.Posted on Google Janet Pray JR and his team were professional , knowledgeable, and a pleasure to work with on my project. It took me a year to look for a place to have my stairs built, and it was worth the wait. I would recommend them highly.Posted on Google Tom McCone JR was extremely courteous and professional to work with. His crew arrived early each day and worked full days sanding, doing carpentry work, and exterior painting of our home. The crew was polite and always considerate of how they left the property each day. We will certainly use them again for other projects. We could not recommend them more highly. The house looks great; thanks JR and crew! As of November, 2022 US Pro Paint and Renovation has done incredible work on our home again renovating our kitchen and doing a complete redo of our bathroom. We were just as happy with this project as we were with their work on previous projects. We benefited from quality work, skilled workers, and tremendous oversight by JR. Our home was respected by everyone who worked on this project. We are again very pleased with their work.Posted on Google Kevin Caravella We hired JR and US Propaint for bathroom remodel based on several neighbors positive experience with exterior house painting. We were not sure how they were on renovations since the recommendations were based on their painting results. We were not disappointed, JR was extremely responsive to us and was a pleasure to work with. JR provided some great advice on some of our renovation challenges. Once we completed our guest bathroom in April we immediately got on his schedule for our master bathroom which was just finished this week. So two major "to the studs" projects in this year and we are extremely pleased with results. Much more than a painting contractor!Posted on Google Nancy Kleber JR and his crew were very responsive, professional and hardworking. They did a great job prepping before painting, carpentry repairs and painting the exterior of my home. His price was very fair. I would definitely call him for other work in the future and recommend him to others.Posted on Google Craig M JR and his crew did a wonderful job painting the exterior of our house. There was quite a bit of carpentry needed to replace rotten shingles and corner boards, and they took no shortcuts. The crew was extremely hard working, professional, and had excellent attention to detail. JR also addressed any questions I had immediately. I strongly recommend!Posted on Google Ross Nanopoulos We hired Jr and crew to repaint the exterior of our house and garage, fix and paint our rotted front steps, and paint our back deck. Crew was very professional and everything came out great. Definitely would recommend and use again!
